Information for Participants
Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, it may be useful to have available a letter of invitation (or program), to present to the security people upon request.
TRANSPORTATION FROM BEN GURION AIRPORT (IN TEL-AVIV):
Ben-Gurion Airport is located about 15 minutes from Tel Aviv and 40 minutes from Jerusalem. Nesher Taxi, a shared door-to-door shuttle, will take you to Jerusalem for the set price of 50 Shekels ($13). It operates 24 hours a day and can be easily found to your right as you exit the arrivals terminal. A taxi to Jerusalem, immediately to the right of the Nesher station, will cost about $50. Either way, ask the driver to drop you off at your designated hotel. Speakers: please keep the receipts of the shuttle for reimbursement (the workshop does not reimburse taxis).
LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL: the School will take place at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University, on the Edmond J. Safra Campus, Givat Ram (the Hebrew University has several campuses). The Institute is the third building (Feldman building) on the right from the main pedestrian gate. This is the place where the School will be conducted. Lectures will be held in Room 130, on the first floor of the Institute.
YOU MUST SHOW YOUR PASSPORT OR I.D. WHEN ENTERING THE MAIN GATE, AND BAGS WILL BE CHECKED (FOR SECURITY REASONS).

Participants will be housed at: Park Hotel, 2 Vilnay Street, Tel: 972-2-6582222, Fax: 972-2-6582211, near Givat Ram (about an 8-minutes' walk from the hotel to the Institute).
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM HOTEL FOR SPEAKERS: Every morning you will be taken from the hotel by a shared-taxi to the Institute before the first lecture every morning (08:30). Please wait at the parking place for the taxi. The Institute will be paying for this service.
REGISTRATION: on Monday, December 29 from 08:30-09:30, in the lobby of the ground floor of the Institute. Lectures will start at 09:30.
RECEPTION: On Monday, December 29, at 19:00, there will be a reception (with light supper) in lobby of Institute.
MEALS:
Breakfast will be available at the hotel.
Lunch will be provided during school days in Belgium House (``Beit Belgia" in Hebrew), the faculty club in the Giv'at Ram campus, a few minute walk from the IAS building. Please remember to bring the lunch-tickets with you to the restaurant (you will find them in your name tag, which you will receive upon registration).
Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided at the IAS during the breaks.

Thursday, December 31, 21:00 - New Year's Party - at the Almora Restaurant, Moshav Even Sapir, (near Hadassa Ein Kerem, Jerusalem)
Friday, January 2, 2009: light lunch and tour of Old City of Jerusalem
Saturday, January 3, 2009: All day tour to the Dead Sea, Massada & Ein Gedi (approximately from 07:30-18:00) .
COMPUTER CONNECTIONS
A few computer terminals as well as wireless Internet access (WiFi) are available in the Institute building. Printing jobs are routed to the printer in room 35 on the ground floor. The network name is "HUJI-guest"
WEATHER: Jerusalem is about 800 meters (2640 feet) above sea level, at geographic latitude 31 47' N and longitude 35 13'´E. Temperatures at the end of December/beginning of January range between an average high of 10-12 Centigrade (and possibly even higher), and an average low of 4-6 C. If unlucky it can be very cold and rainy, so bring a sweater, a coat and an umbrella.
