General Information - stochasticity

Transportation from Ben-Gurion Airport to Jerusalem:

You will be arriving at Ben-Gurion Airport, which is located about 40 minutes from Jerusalem.

There are two options for transportation from the airport to Jerusalem: 

1. Private taxis can be found as you exit the arrivals terminal, and cost about NIS 270).

2.You can also take the Nesher Taxi, a shared door-to-door shuttle, for the set price of NIS 65 (cash only). It operates 24 hours a day (including Saturdays) and can be easily found to your right as you exit the arrivals terminal.

Please ask the driver to drop you off at your designated hotel.

Conference Venue

 The Conference will take place at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) located at The Hebrew University, the Edmond J. Safra Campus, Givat Ram (The Hebrew University has several campuses). Walking from the main pedestrian gate, the Institute is the third building (Feldman building) on the right. Lectures will be held on the first floor.

There are a few parking options in the vicinity, as displayed on the following map. Parking on campus will be available for speakers only. 



Computer Connections and Working Space in the Institute

 Please bring your laptop with you, if you wish to use a computer during the conference for your personal needs. There is free access to wireless Internet (WiFi) on campus. The network name is (SSID) “HUJI-guest” (no password is needed).

Transportation in Jerusalem

It is fairly easy to get around Jerusalem using public transportation. City buses run frequently, and cost 5.90 NIS (ticket may be bought from the driver, in cash). There is also a light rail that runs east-west through the city, and also costs 5.90 NIS per ride. Train tickets must be bought beforehand at the kiosk at the station, and can be paid for using cash for credit card. The ticket must then be validated upon entry to the train. Public transportation does not run on Shabbat (sundown Friday evening until sundown Satruday evening)

Taxis are reasonably priced and may be hailed on the street, or ordered ahead of time. The Gett taxi app works well in Jerusalem, or you can call a cab company such as Gilo Taxis: 052-3456702



Restaurants and Bars

Most restaurants in Jerusalem are kosher, meaning they will either serve meat or dairy, and will be closed on Shabbat. If you're really craving a cheesburger, there are un kosher restaurants (also open on Shabbat)
