Information for Participants
Participants coming from abroad are strongly advised to carry a copy of the letter of invitation to the Workshop, to be presented (if needed) to
security people in airports BOTH UPON ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE.
Ben-Gurion Airport is located about 15 minutes from Tel Aviv and 40
minutes from Jerusalem. Nesher Taxi, a shared door-to-door shuttle,
will take you to Jerusalem for the set price of 49 Shekels ($15). It
operates 24 hours a day and can be easily found to your right as you
exit the arrivals terminal. A taxi to Jerusalem, immediately to the
right of the Nesher station, will cost about $50. Either way, ask the
driver to drop you off at your designated hotel.
The workshop speakers will be hosted at the Dan Panorama Hotel, 39
Keren Hayesod Street, Jerusalem 94188. Tel: 972-2-5695695.
Participants will be residing at the Park Plaza Hotel, 2 Vilnay
Street, Tel: 972-2-6582222, Fax: 972-2-6582211, near Givat Ram
(about an 8-minutes' walk from the hotel to the Institute).
Please note that the Park Hotel booking is in shared (double) rooms,
at the cost of $43 per person per night. Those who would like to
have a single room, should let us know. Payment will be made
directly to the hotel.
TRANSPORTATION FROM AND TO HOTEL FOR LECTURERS ONLY: Every morning the lecturers will be taken from the hotel by a shared-taxi to the Institute before the first lecture. Please wait at the parking
lot for the taxi. The Institute is covering the cost of this taxi.
LOCATION OF THE WORKSHOP: The Workshop will take place at the
Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University, on the
Edmond J. Safra Campus, Givat Ram (the Hebrew University has several
campuses). The Institute is the third building (Feldman building) on
the right from the main pedestrian gate. This is the place where the
Workshop will be conducted, and lectures will be held in Room 130, on
the first floor.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SHOW YOUR PASSPORT OR OTHER I.D. WHEN ENTERING THE CAMPUS THROUGH THE MAIN GATE, AND BAGS WILL BE CHECKED.
This is done routinely in public places in Israel.
All speakers who will arrive by Sunday evening, January 11th, are cordially invited to join Eli Tziperman and Hezi Gildor for dinner (at 18:30) at a local Mediterranean restaurant.
REGISTRATION: On Monday, January 12: 08:00-09:00
RECEPTION: On Monday, January 12, at 18:00 - a reception and a light dinner.
Breakfast will be available at the hotel.
Lunch will be provided during the Conference in Belgium House (``Beit Belgia" in Hebrew), the faculty club in the Givat Ram campus, a few minute walk from the IAS building. Please remember to bring the lunch-tickets with you to the restaurant (you will find them in your name tag which you will receive upon registration). Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided during the breaks, in Room 115.
COMPUTER CONNECTIONS AND WORKING SPACE: Please bring your lap top with you, if you wish to use a computer during the Workshop for your personal needs. A few computer terminals as well as wireless Internet access (WiFi) are available in the Institute building. Printing jobs are routed to the printer in room 35 on the ground floor. We will have poster stands that are 120x120 cm (HxW). The sessions will take place on Tuesday, January 13th, at 16:00.

WEATHER: Jerusalem is about 800 meters (2640 feet) above sea level, at geographic latitude 31 47' N and longitude 35 13'A4E; The temperature in mid-January range between an average high of 10-12 Centigrade - 50-53 Farenheight (and even lower), and an average low of 4-5 C. (32-41 F.). If unlucky it can be very cold and rainy, so please bring a sweater, a coat and an umbrella.
